Current research of Dr. Chan’s research lab. focus on developing chromatographic and mass spectrometric methods: 1) to identify and quantify toxic chemicals for food safety testing; 2) to study chemically- and physically-induced damage to biological macromolecules, such as DNA, RNA, and proteins, that related to human diseases; and 3) to investigate the biological consequences of external stimuli by using a systematic metabolomics approach. He was selected has received several international awards, including the "2018 Chemical Research in Toxicology Young Investigator Award" jointly from the American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Chemical Toxicology and Chemical Research in Toxicology; and “2017 Research Article of the Year Award" jointly by ACS Division of Agrochemicals and Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. He has leaded over ten projects, including “Chemical Approaches to Investigate the Potential Health Effects of 2-Chlorobenzalmalononitrile and to Develop a Biomarker of Exposure” and published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers. Dr. Chan is currently appointed as Associate Editor of Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
